writings!: sunglasses

shaded. jaded. eighty bucks to be an icon, or maybe a cat. round red ones for that crown-of-thorns look,

aviators because you ache to go high,

pink heart shaped ones if you’re a girl who wants to see the world brighter.

your face is shrinking and your freckles blaze, sweat and tears and plastic won’t stop sliding down your nose and you keep trying to push them up but i guess they’re too big?

lenses are darker than undereye circles.

novelty glasses at the tourist store in florida and everyone’s worried about you, but who can tell when there’s beer bottles around the edges of the lenses, take a picture sister and maybe you’ll try it someday…?

then there’s the classics which never looked good on you, fake ray-ban ovals glinting like hummingbird eggs on the edges but when you push them up hawks dig their talons into their hair and i can see scalp

pink heart shaped ones if you want the world to see you brighter,

they broke last six months ago and won’t stay on straight, but maybe you can glue them back together.

you have another pair but they aren’t the same.

for now, you stick to sunscreen. your eyes burn and peel. your face dresses itself in satin.

style+culture: fall style ideas??

just a few ideas:

  1. VELVET. try a velvet dress, maybe in a darker color. layer it over a t shirt and w kickass boots.
  2. mom jeans and grandpa sweaters.
  3. fishnets!!! fishnetsfishnetsfishnets omg just get them ok
  4. buy a plain baseball cap in a darker color– you can get them hella cheap on amazon. then buy some patches (also on amazon).
  5. fuzzy sweaters and jackets. the kind of fuzz is up to you. but make sure it shows.
  6. creepers. puma x rihanna ones are amaaaaazing but so damn expensive so knockoffs work too?
  7. stick and poke. 🙂 {side note: do not attempt if you don’t have good tools or don’t know how. be careful and have good judgement if you attempt this ok?}
  8. mini backpacks for all your mini shit. way better than plain old handbags
  9. interesting socks.
  10. anything forest green; or aubergine purple.
  11. tea!!!!

ok thats all i got for now

comment if you have any more you think should be added

style + culture: vintage fall ideas???

throwback ideas for fall (use as you wish). all can be found thrifting.

  1. mom jeans, any color wash. buy them online if you have the money. otherwise, hit the nearest thrift shop. (check the jeans a size up from yours. they might be a little more mom jean-y because they’ll hang loser). another place to look is–big surprise–a mom’s closet. y’know, because they’re mom jeans. (dads also. try dad’s closet too) . try rolling them up a little bit so they’re just above your shoes.
  2. eighties sweaters. try big, warm, cozy, usually with ridiculous patterns in putrid colors. the thing is, if you can pull one off, you will literally be a superhero. but if you can’t, eighties sweaters designed for men will have the same retro effect, but more toned down and chill. the bigger the sweater, the better it is, unless it’s like down to your knees, in which case you can ROCK IT YES or cut it or tie it or something. wear with said mom jeans or with a skirt because you can.
  3. denim skirts. not the mini kind, the longer kind with the buttons in the front.
  4. doc martens. they’re hella expensive though, and hard to break in, so buy them on ebay or craigslist or something. pretty timeless.
  5. if you have shoulder length or longer hair, put it in a ponytail after the shower and then use a flatiron or whatever to crimp it into those retro waves. actually maybe don’t because i have never done that before and just made it up right now…whatever it sounds legit right
